Chelsea started their Premier League defence with a 2-2 draw against battling Swansea, but it will be the visitors that will have come away disappointed not to have claimed all three points.
There was an air of controversy surrounding the game as Thibaut Courtois was sent off after he brought Bafetimbi Gomis down on the edge of the box.
Although Michael Oliver got it right by awarding the penalty, in my view it was not a red card as the ball was going away from goal so doesn’t meet the denying a ‘clear and obvious’ goal scoring opportunity rule, especially as Gary Cahill was in position to cover.
Saying that, the Blues were poor on the day and were lucky to get away with the point they had and with so much of the game left…
